The homeowner originally talked with a contractor who recommended they call Anne Del Prince to help them think through their design thoughts and needs.
The program developed as a result of getting to know the Degarises, talking with them about what they wanted to accomplish, what they had and what was lacking, how they lived and move through the house on a daily basis.
For Del Prince, being aware of their sensibilities and sensitivities, and gently helping dial-back preconceived solutions allowed the Degarises to be open to the advantages of other options.
The basic issue was flow and the solutions were structural. The stairway was moved to provide better movement from the garage. The general floor plan was also modified for better connectivity, views and easy of use.
The solution is comfortable, experiential and architecturally interesting.
