January Program - Plant Tour and Presentation at FischerSIPS
Location: FischerSIPS, 1844 Northwestern Parkway, Louisville, KY 40203
Date: January 16, 2018
Time: 11:45 am - 1:45 pm
On January 16th FischerSIPS, a local manufacturer of structural insulated panels, will open its doors to interested individuals for a plant tour. The tour will begin at 11:45 a.m. with the owner of the company Damian Pataluna describing the process of how the panels are manufactured and fabricated. There will also be an unfinished mobile tiny home that will be made accessible for those who would like to see how SIPS can be used in that niche market application.
When the tour ends at 12:30 we will depart to the offsite conference facility. Lunch will be served and the AIA approved presentation will begin promptly and last 1 hour. Company representatives will be available afterwards to answer any questions.
AIA Presentation: Structural Insulated Panels
The course will explain the benefits of designing with structural insulated panels including energy optimization. The designer will gain a better understanding of application, assembly and detailing in order to properly utilize SIPs. Through case studies and design strategies, the designer will walk away from this course with a better understanding of designing for current industry standards with SIPs.
Course Format: This is a structured, live, instructor-led course.
Course Credit: 1 Health Safety & Welfare (HSW) CE Hour. SIPA will submit your name for AIA credit if you include your AIA number on the Course Attendance form.
Completion Certificate: A copy is sent to you by email upon request. When you fill out the Course Attendance, please indicate if you need one. Also please ensure the information you provide is legible.

February Program - Jeanne Gang Lecture

On Feb. 28, 2018, internationally renowned architect Jeanne Gang will present a public talk as part of the University of Kentucky College of Design's spring lecture series.
The founding principal of Studio Gang, an architecture and urban design practice with offices in Chicago, New York and San Francisco, Gang is recognized for a design approach that foregrounds relationships between people and their environment. A MacArthur Fellow, she was named the 2016 Architect of the Year by the Architectural Review, honored with the Louis I. Kahn Memorial Award in 2017, and recently appointed Professor in Practice at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
The recipient of this year's UK College of Design Brown-Forman Visiting Chair Endowment, Gang and members of Studio Gang are leading Studio Louisville, a College of Design satellite studio that is engaging members of the Portland neighborhood of West Louisville to explore how architecture and urban design reflect and foster community identity, health and resiliency.
Gang's lecture will highlight Studio Gang's interdisciplinary process and award-winning work such as the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership at Kalamazoo College and Aqua Tower in downtown Chicago. Located at the Louisville Central Community Center, it will run from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Size: 36,000 SF, including event space, distillation and the offices.
Main Product: Bourbon Whisky, Rye Whisky, and Gin
Description:
Rabbit Hole Distillery is Louisville's newest craft Distillery located in the Historic NuLu neighborhood. The program will present an overview of the inspirations, revelations, and explorations behind the new Rabbit Hole Distillery with a focus on Structural/ MEP systems, Design Excellence, and the User Experience.
The program will share the influences of the numerous stakeholders had on delivering the city's newest high-end craft Distillery. The construction tour will be led by Kyle Beasley, PE, of Luckett & Farley, senior structural engineer for the project and Brian Gelfo, Tour Experience Manager for Rabbit Hole.
