• Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop and Sketchup, as well as basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Self-motivated individual with a collaborative mindset
• Analytical problem-solver with a focus on efficiency and time management
• Effective communication skills – verbal and written
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment

- The Market Director will serve as the “go to” resource within the Market and will lead a market-focused multi-disciplined technical team comprised of project managers, architects, engineers, interior designers and other technical and administrative support as market needs require.
- The Market Director has overall responsibility for pipeline management, pre-positioning, business development strategy, and client satisfaction that will result in Higher Education market success and growth. The Market Director is the “champion” for the Higher Education market - both internally and externally.
- Represent Luckett & Farley in a positive manner and be recognized as the authority within the Higher Education market to industry organizations, clients, prospective clients, vendors, competitors, potential strategic alliance partners and the public at-large.
- Develops Fees, Budgets and Schedules for projects in collaboration with the Department Managers, Project Managers, Sr. Market Director
- One or more Project Managers (depending upon market size) may report directly to the Market Director. The Market Director should also expect to function on the project level as a Project Manager is those instances where current market size or workload cannot support a dedicated Project Manager.
- The Market Director demonstrates creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating, responding and solving the issues that “keep our clients up at night”.
- Through research, study and professional societies, keep informed of new developments and systems as they influence the collective team.
- Actively support strategic goals of the firm and implement actions within the Higher Education market that contribute to their achievement. Ensure that the staff working within the Market understands how their respective actions contribute to the overall success of Luckett & Farley’s strategic plan.
Key Success Factors:
- Academic credentials, professional experience with a strong track record of projects, completed work, and clear evidence of establishing, then growing, strong client relationships.
- Actively develop client base and future pipeline through business development activities, authoring articles for trade publications, speaking at trade conferences and attending networking events.
- A functional working knowledge of REVIT, AutoCAD, SketchUp, PhotoShop, Green Build Studio, and Microstation. Fluency in working with one or more of these applications will be considered a plus.
- Ability to properly assess and then take appropriate action to identify and solve problems during design or in the field during construction.
- Exhibiting a high sense of personal motivation and urgency. Has a strong entrepreneurial spirit and business savvy.
- Demonstrates passion within the Higher Education market and displays a “fire in the belly” with a strong work ethic.
- Must be able and willing to identify and mentor potential successors within the Higher Education market and work to develop their skills, ignite their passion and enhance their understanding of the Higher Education market. Willingly share expertise with others at Luckett & Farley to help ensure that the Higher Education market is never without a clear Market Director successor(s).
- Collaborate with the Sr. Market Director and HR on hiring and termination decisions.
- Be a proactive public relations ambassador in presenting and communicating the capabilities and strengths of Luckett & Farley to the public. Become involved in service, not-for-profit or other community organizations. Practice giving back to our community in a positive manner as a representative of Luckett & Farley. Ideal Education, Registrations and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering or a related professional degree from an accredited institution preferable. Demonstrated professional work experience may be substituted to satisfy formal education requirements.
- The successful candidate possesses a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the A/E/C industry and is able to demonstrate success both in the management of direct reporting relationships and the management of multiple projects.
- A demonstrated history of effectively working in a collaborative team environment with architects and other engineering disciplines is a necessity.
- LEED accredited professional, or the ability to become LEED accredited within 6 months.
- A winning, can-do, full speed ahead, “never say die” work ethic and attitude.

Participate in presentations to districts and the organizations that support districts such as Kentucky School Board Association (KSBA), Kentucky Association of School Business Officials (KASBO), Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA), Kentucky School Plant Management Association (KSPMA) and School Financial Management Institute (SFMI) to help them understand the construction and planning processes.
